New pictures from spring of 2005 and my Masters graduation.

My graduation went well - it was great to see everyone. Melissa came up on Saturday and we had a good time. Dan has moved out and will not be coming back to RIT. I will miss him very much. Dan has been an excellent source of entertainment, insanity, and good music. Steve and Tina have gone back to Boston and will be back in the fall. Rob is in Kentucky until the 6th but should be here with me until August when he moves to Florida. We have a housemate lined up for the fall, and may get another for the summer as well. Change is good, but stressful.

I, Ryan the crypto-geek, got a B in the Graduate CS Cryptography II course, my first and only as a Graduate student. I did very well on the homework, proofs, and programs, but terrible on the final. It was everything I did not expect to be included, and everything that I did not know. Much more complexity theory and algorithm memorization than I expected. Oh well.

I have finished my first week at Cephire as a System Engineer. The first week was a lot of administrative work and just figuring out how things are done. I am very pleased with everyone I have met there. Fred, my co-worker/boss has been extremely helpful and seems like a great guy. I'll be splitting my time between the office on University and the Frontier Datacenter on Plymouth. I think this will work out very well once I get up to speed on everything.

I have started seeing my dance partner from the Latin/Swing/Salsa class I took this past quarter, Valerie. Things are going very well and we have been spending a lot of time together in the last few weeks. Valerie is a Graphic Design major at RIT and is extremely talented. She is also a good dancer. Unfortunately she will be in Massachusetts for part of the summer - so I may be making a few trips out that way. Otherwise, I will be in Rochester working and preparing for my MS defense (should be in August).

I will be graduating with my MS in 5 days. I will be sad to leave RIT, but I will still be working on my MS Project for a few months as I am scheduled to defend in August. I have accepted a position at Cephire Technologies here in Rochester. People I have met at Cephire seem very down to earth, friendly, and capable. I plan to live in GeekHaus for another year or so until I get on my feet financially.
