For Your Protection: Interfering With Security Personnel Or Procedures In Any Manner Is Prohibited

I took this picture two years ago in the Buffalo Airport. This is the world in which we are living.

Papers: Graduate school at RIT means you write papers at your computer, in class, between classes, going to and from class, going to and from RIT, while eating, when on the toilet, and in your sleep. If you are able, you write them in the shower with a Magna Doodle (it is waterproof).

EMF: I have been researching and testing materials for 2.4 GHz shielding and devices for interference. The unlicensed 2.4 GHz band is used for phones, cameras, bluetooth, wireless networks (802.11/b/g), etc. Very few things work well for shielding - your tinfoil hat is useless. Many things work well to raise the noise floor enough to kill a signal - like an X10 Cam. Getting RIT to buy me TEMPEST shielding materials to play with is much fun.

Election: I voted for Badnarik. He lost, oh well. If I have any faith in the American people then I am happy that Bush won, because 4 more years of him will bring about enough anguish to make the people undo some of what his administration has done. Unfortunately, I am not sure I have any faith in the people, and his policies may live on.

Beer: Rob, Dan, and I made a plain English Bitter. It has a very good flavor but is far too sweet - we seem to have this problem a lot. No matter how many hops we throw in, it is never enough.

Cider: A few weeks ago we went up to a farm and got 10 gallons of raw cider (unpasteurized with no preservatives). Boiled 7 gallons of it down to 5, chilled it, threw in champagne yeast, and it is now fermenting away. Should be ready by December.
