Oregon Trip 2007

These pictures were taken in Oregon in 2007.

Flying over the rocky mountains in Washington late at night.

.

We think this is Spokane, WA.

.

.

.

.

Not 5 minutes out of our hotel and surrounded by weirdness!

Several groups of people tethered to shopping carts.

Running through the city.

Picking up garbage as they went.

Valerie and I enjoy pizza, Powell's City of Books in the background.

Black Olive and Bacon! I approve!

This was taken right in center city Portland, you can see hills and trees!

Enjoying coffee at the bookstore.

.

.

The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant.

Chicken, Lamb, Beef, Shrimp, Pork, potstickers, and vegetables.

It was very good.

The chocolate fondue for dessert was wonderful!

.

I believe this says, "Don't ride bikes without front tires, dumbass"

Exploring Portland.

.

.

Valerie and myself were very pleased with what we found.

.

Mt Hood in the background. It was 70 miles away!

.

.

Mt. Hood and eastern Portland.

Valerie and I at the grotto.

.

.

.

Exhausted after our last day in Portland.

Room service to the rescue!

And so begins our journey to Mt Hood (and 100 pictures of my nose).

There were waterfalls everywhere in the mountains.

Valerie reading to me while we relax in the Jeep.

.

We had gotten there early, so we drove around the mountains for a while.

NOL! - I don't understand either, but she was very excited.

The Timberline Lodge. The Shining was filmed here...

All of the furniture and hardware in the lodge was hand made.

Lovely wrought iron hardware.

And thick heavy doors, Ryan approved.

.

The view from our window.

.

.

That metal tunnel is put up in the winter so that guests can get to the entrance to the lodge.

Much creepier then the interior that was shown in The Shining.

Carvings everywhere.

Looking out the 3rd floor window.

And the 2nd floor. The snow was 21 feet high that day...

Main fireplace.

.

.

.

Inside the tunnel.

Notice the snow coming over the roof.

Our window (top right, on the left side).

Mt Jefferson in the distance.

.

Just amazing.

.

.

.

.

Out another 2nd floor window.

Sitting in the lodge before dinner.

The next morning was cold and wet, but unveiled wonderful scenery

Another waterfall we did not get the name of.

Looks like a tree from a Dr. Seuss book. An inch of moss covered everything.

They gave me chopsticks with my hamburger.

And Valerie found a fried clam strip.

In an interesting shape.
